Coming Alongside

by Fiona Monaghan

Seek me and you will find me if you seek me with all your heart…Jeremiah 29:13-14

Jesus reveals to us, how much He loves us, in our own unique way. He goes to that little part in each of us that cries out for His love. To me, it has been in that of a loving Father, provider and a caring figure. In looking back over my life it seems that I have been let down by significant people in my life and I recognize now, that as long as I was looking to people to complete me, I would be let down because no human can measure up to that. The result though, was that I had felt less important and of little value and it showed in some of the choices I made. Jesus revealing Himself and the Father’s love to me has been in the gentle way of providing for me and to me, those incidentals in my life that showed me how important He views me. It is the gentle, caring, coming alongside and meeting with me in my daily life where I have grown in my trust and faith.

As my trust and faith grew stronger, I was then able to come alongside someone and share what I was learning so they had a visual of what it meant to trust Jesus and live for him. I was a friend to someone through some exceedingly difficult times but in all of it I knew God had a plan for them and one day it would be fulfilled. It may not be for me to see, but God works on His own timetable and is always at work.

This weekend, Pastor Tim will be addressing this similar idea in his sermon “Walking Alongside” taken from Acts 8. Join us at 10:30am on Facebook Live! You will be glad you did.
